2014. Reggae. The late Dennis Brown had a great string of albums through the late 70's and into the early 80's. A result of incredibly fruitful collaborations with Joe Gibbs and Errol Thompson, Brown yielded the lps "Visions," "Wolf & Leopards," "Words of Wisdom," "So Long Rastafari," "Joseph's Coat of Many Colours," and "Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow," all of which are roots reggae classics. "Words of Wisdom" found Brown in great form, combining "message" songs ("Black Liberation," "Love Jah," "Rasta Children") with his unbelievable love songs,("Cassandra," "Ain't that loving You") complete with his trademark wailings that made him as popular as he was. Anchored by the minor hit "Money In My Pocket," the album is beautifully sculptured. This is one of roots reggae's crowning achievements and comes very highly recommended.
